SLUG: ME/SHOOTING. DATE: June, 27, 2009 CREDIT: Marcus Yam / TWP. Washington, DC. Stephany Hill sits at home during an interview with the Washington Post in Washington, DC on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Hill's daughter, Toni Brown, was shot by a girlfriend as she was leaving her job at a Safeway in Adams Morgan. Since then, Brown has been paralyzed from the neck down and living in a Capitol Hill rehabilitation center. Last week, Brown died. The medical examiner says Brown did not die from the shooting, but instead, she died from high blood pressure related health concerns. As a result, the family doesn't qualify for the city's homicide victim fund and the family says they can't afford to bury Brown.
