Kennedy Space Center, Florida: The Apollo/Saturn V space vehicle carrying Apollo 11 Astonauts, Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Aldrin lifted off at 9:32am EDT July 16, 1969, on the first manned lunar landing mission. The 363 foot high vehicle generated a thrust of seven and one-half million pounds during liftoff from the Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39A.
