A full eclipse of the moon, like an evil pumpkin, tops San Francisco Transamerica Pyramid Wednesday evening 10/27. The partial phase of the eclipse started 6:14 p.m., just as the full moon is rising from the east bay hills. Totality began at 7:23 p.m., when the moon, blood- red was tucked completely within Earth's shadow. The next total eclipse in the Bay Area can be viewed in the wee hours of the night August 28, 2007. 10/27/04 San Francisco CA -- Frederic Larson, San Francisco Chronicle
