Harding piloted this type aircraft over Germany until he was shot down and taken prisoner near Berlin in 1944. Recently he returned to the village where he was taken prisoner in an unsuccessful attempt to find his pilot's wings he had hidden in the farm house where he and his survivng crew had been kept.
