Sky watchers viewing from the Marin headlands watched the moon change Thursday evening 5/15 as a total lunar eclipse became visible over the San Francisco skyline. For 53 minutes, the sun, the Earth and the moon lined up as the moon passed through the Earth's dark shadow, and vivid colors - orange and bright red - painted the moon's face, the result of sunlight refracting through the Earth's atmosphere. A new twist to the already twisted Lomdard Street at Hyde. If a street doesn't have to be straight why does the camera? One of the first rides up Hyde to Powell took on a new slant this morning at the top of Hyde near the America's crookedest street. Lombard Street was created with sharp curves to switchback down the one-way hill past beautiful Victorian mansions. If not for the byzantine curves easing out this treacherous slope, people would be killed rolling down. Some of the classiest and most expensive Real Estate in the city exists on Lombard Street. This Russian Hill neighborhood, somehow possesses stately mansions, condos and townhouses, even with the endless array of tourists pouring down the street every day.
