With cold wind blowing the construction crews are building the Buckroe Beach Fishing Pier, the new pier will be owned and operated by the City of Hampton and will measure 709 feet in length and 16 feet wide upon completion.. This new fishing pier has concrete pilings and beams with a wood deck and railings which will offer more resistance to storms and hurricanes. The cost for rebuilding the pier, which includes the purchase of land for access to the pier, parking lot, and construction, is approximately $4.1 million.

CW will become a worldwide center of oxen studies during an Oct. 30-Nov. 1 symposium exploring the past history and present use of the draft animal that built the United States. We are visiting with Richard Nicholl, the head of their rare breeds and livestock program, for a talk about oxen, an introduction to the symposium and a demonstration of oxen working in the fields at Great Hopes farm.
