A Bald eagle tangles with an osprey after venturing too close to the Ospreys nest at Hog Island Wildlife Management Area in Isle of Wight. After the banning of the pesticide DDT in 1972, Bald eagles have risen in numbers the past decades since being listed as an Endangered species in 1967. Through captive breeding efforts reintroduction efforts, law enforcement and nest site protection the eagle has had a remarkable rebound in population.

A Bald eagle glides over the Fox Hill section of Hampton during a midday flight in search of food. With the increase in the eagle population after extensive efforts to save the raptor, it was removed from listing as endangered and threatened on June 28, 2007 by the Unites States Fish and Wildlife Service.
